  Ukraine
Description
Second most populous of the former Soviet republics, Ukraine also ranks second in terms of economic resources. However, both the health of the population and environment are still threatened by the long-term radiation effects of the Chernobyl nuclear explosion of 1986. Having the largest Seventh-day Adventist membership in this division, Ukraine utilizes several Youth-to-Youth ministries—inasmuch as four out of ten of its members are under 30 years of age. An educational system, which includes elementary schools, is under the process of development through the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute. In addition, there are Public School Evangelism teachers working in the public schools. Members see opportunity to witness through both medical and satellite evangelism.
