  El Salvador
Description
Smallest and most densely populated of the Central American countries is El Salvador. Still suffering from a 12-year civil war, this small nation on the Pacific Ocean has a population of mestizos with mixed Amerindian and European ancestry whose official language is Spanish. Seventh-day Adventists rejoice that Adventist World Radio is now beamed throughout the nation in "La Voz del Evangelio Eterno." During the last ten years, Maranatha Volunteers have constructed more than 50 churches, ten primary and secondary schools, an orphanage, and a home school. At least one primary school was built each year during the last six years, because the members are convinced that Christian education is the best way to win and keep their youth in the church.
