  Norway
Description
Lying along the west coast of the Scandinavian Peninsula, the Kingdom of Norway has abundant hydroelectric resources and equally bountiful coastal crude oil reserves—especially in the North Sea—to give Norway one of the highest living standards in the world. Such materialism, coupled with devotion to the national Lutheran religion, confronts the small Seventh-day Adventist population. A woman pastor in the world's most northerly territory has a parish half the size of Denmark. Young people are increasingly active, and a lay health center called Stiftelsen Hjertegod, is contributing to outreach. Five local radio stations, videos from the various NET programs, 11 elementary schools, and a junior college are some of the evangelism tools used to reach the youth of this country. Norway is home to Jan Paulsen, President of the General Conference.
