| A group of five single islands, 32 widely separated coral atolls (including the largest atoll in the world), and more than 1,000 islets and reefs strung out in two chains in the western Pacific make up the English-speaking Marshall Islands. Education and pastoral ministry, which began together at the major centers of Majuro and Ebeye islands, are spreading now to the small outer islands. A mission trimaran called Canvasback, assisted by medical personnel from the United States of America and the Guam clinic, makes regular health calls, and the government has now adopted the Seventh-day Adventist lifestyle as the major deterrent to diabetes. Five elementary schools, staffed mostly by Adventist volunteer student missionaries, serve as the source of church growth. Youth are planning a rally to be held in Pohnpei in August 2000. | ||||||||||||||||||
