| Largest of the western European countries, France has included for the past 200 years the Mediterranean island of Corsica, though it is closer to the Italian island of Sardinia. Scene of religious conflict between Roman Catholics and French Protestant Huguenots in the 16th and 17th centuries, France today is largely nonreligious. Many young Seventh-day Adventist members are ministering to the homeless and society outcasts through such innovations as "Operation: The Thousand Nights" and "social restaurants." Renewed commitment of each member and student in their two schools and the use of satellite preaching are seen as growth potentials, despite some threats against religious liberty. | ||||||||||||||||||
