  Ecuador
Description
As its name suggests, Ecuador lies astride the equator on the west coast, but it also includes the Galapagos Islands 600 miles away in the Pacific Ocean. Literature ministry was first used to the south of this imaginary line, while medical outreach was established in Quito to the north. Progress was slow, taking 24 years to bring 26 persons to the message. Today an FM radio station in Quito has a potential audience of two million people. Ten evangelistic teams from The Quiet Hour and others from Maranatha Volunteers, Loma Linda University, and the Orlando Hospital Foundation have been successful. Women are currently responsible for three out of ten baptisms. Television promises to make a difference in the future.
